Median Irises are smaller than the more well know Tall Bearded irises. They range from 27" to a few inches tall. The tallist are the Border Bearded (BB), Intermediate Bearded (IB), and Miniature Tall Bearded (MTB). The Standard Dwarf Bearded (SDB) and Miniature Dwarf Bearded (MDB) are the smallist. The earlist bloomers are the MDBs. Next come the SDBs followed by the IBs, then the MTBs and BBs bloom with the Tall Bearded iris. Their small sizes is perfect for rock gardens and mixed flower beds.
